Default Re: Pontiac Supercar??

hey guys, I knew those cars when they were new. First, the outfit was located in Maspeth, Long Island, New York in the 50s and 60s. It was called Myrtle Motors and was loosly conected to Royal Pontiac-lets say the eastern connection and used alot of Royals parts and experience. The car, a 428HO firebird was a typical DIO engine swap.It started out as a 400 car that received a 428/390 H.O. short block and used the original D-port heads. They swapped out the 068 HO cam for the hotter 744 ram air stick and added if I remember corectly, a ram air package and 3:90 gears plus some suspension work and dyno tuning- the car really cooked, times in the mid 13s at over 105-107mph-a real street sweeper! That car would competative on the street today, and would be easy to build. Those were the good old days-I remember them well.-Rick
