Default Re: 7.4 liter 454 block

I know that back when it was NSCA vs NMCA,the NSCA drag radial class required production line engine blocks and cylinder heads.Troy Perez with his 3600# nova with a stock block 440 incher with 990 heads on it ran low 8's with crazy mph{over 165}.Later the rules changed and allowed better heads, and he built a 510 inch short block out of a stock block, but had traction issues with the big motor, and had a hard time dipping into the 7's with any consistency. He swapped the 440 inch shortblock back in with the new heads and went right into the 7.90's at just a tick under 3600#{he was 200# over the minimum weight}.He also was making mad MPH because he was doing it on 275MM radials{the class allowed 315mm but they didnt fit his stock chassis car}.To go 168 mph at 3600# required the better part of 1600 hp.He may have had a 2 bolt block with splayed caps thought.
As for me,I push just under 1000 hp out of a stock 2 bolt block with just main studs, and if my 3550# tank ever runs faster then 9.0 on raidals I will be very surprised{it has gone some 9.20's}.
