Default Re: Hot Rod Mag's "Drag Week": 9/12 through 9/16

Made it over to Gateway for the St. Louis leg of Drag Week yesterday. There were three 1966-7 novas running 8.50-.60's. I missed the first Nova eary in the morning as he runs in the 8.50 range, loads up his stuff and hits the road. This car is supposed to have a 12-71 Rat motor, Lenco, and EFI. It was wild to see some of these Pro Street cars pulling little trailers with slicks, toolboxes, and everything else needed. I also missed seeing the Nova wagon run but it looked like he was just arriving around noon. Anyway that white/blue stripe 68 vette from the pump gas drags ran a 9.13 but I'd have to say the coolest car there was Steve Atwell's REAL '68 Hemi Dart. He actually broke off the water pump snout as he was pulling into Gateway and Carquest delivered a new one by van to the track. Then he runs a 10.80. Can you imagine calling the auto parts store for a water pump for a '68 Hemi Dart? Crazy.
