Thanks for the kind words. I have already pulled the 283 and had the cylinders sleeved( it ended up being 2). I had a fresh small block in the garage that I put in just to make the car a runner until I get time to play with it. The original 283 still had all the crayon markings etc. on the side of the block. I'm going to try to get away with doing as little as possible to it since it all is in great shape already. I plan on doing an underhood detail when installing the original engine. Then I will strip the car and paint it. Besides that it really doesn't need much.
