Often times that's true, but not always! Octane is not directly related to burn speed...that is controlled by the chemistry (composition) of the fuel itself. For example:
Maximal has one of the highest octane ratings of any fuel Sunoco makes (116 octane), but it's one of it's fastest burning fuels...they use it a lot in Pro Stock.
