Default Re: What did you get for CHRISTMAS?

how about a great after Christmas present....The wife and I are going to go look at a car I have been wanting since I was a kid. Had to wait until after Christmas to do this and its been killing me to wait. A few weeks before Christmas an acquaintance of ours was over visiting and overheard us talking about another friend's camaro he was restoring and how much I had always wanted a 69 rs/ss to fix up. He informed us that he had the perfect car for me. I forgot that this person has a collection of Camaro's most being 1st gens and a couple of assorted others. We have been trying to get together on the deal and as of yet I havent even gotten to go see the car but that is scheduled for this Wednesday. He runs a race team and our schedules just seem to run in different times/hours so I have been waiting until now to try to hook up with him. He had been out of state for several weeks doing the off season sponsership stuff that comes with running a race team. Anyway here is the scoop from him on the car and I will post if anyone is interested if it turns out to be everthing he says it is. Its a fathom green 69 RS/SS original 350 4speed car but engine and tranny has been robbed. No rust in floors or trunk but some minor rust in front fenders near wheel wells. Body solid other than the fender rust. All chrome trim on the car is fine and has all the original windows (but milky) in spots. Original rally wheels are still on the car as well. Interior is complete but showing its age. Has console with guage package as well. He also has a 68 standard camaro in same to better shape as well with engine and tranny missing on that one as well. He had picked them up several years ago (8 to be exact) to have a father/son project with his boy. Son has no interest in them and never did and they have just sat in one of his race garages since. I am going to take my camera on Wednesday and get a couple of pics while I am over there. Luckily he is a good friend and will work with me on purchasing them. I have wanted a 69 RS/SS since I was a kid and things just hadn't worked out for me to own one yet. Hopefully the new year will bring my dream to and end and the project will be on the way. Hope I haven't bored anyone to death but I am just psyched about this and hoping it will turn out to be exactly as he has described it to me. I know I haven't posted here but I honestly read the forums here almost everyday and am amazed at the knowledge of the board members and their honest and helpful answers to questions asked. Hopefully I will be asking tons of resto questions in the future and hope I get the same responses to help me bring this car back to life.

Eddie
