Every time I see one of those 409/409 cars I'm reminded of a story once told to me by a former coworker, about going with a good friend of his to take delivery of a brand new one from a Chevy dealer in Chicago. They sat in the car with engine running, waiting to pull out of the service department while the salesman explained the special break-in procedures for the high performance engine. Salesman finished his spiel, they pulled out onto the street and burned rubber for a block, banging gears
