Agreed! I myself have missed out on several items, even those as well desribed and listed as your auctions are.
Ive looked into the initial costs of web site starting; $5K was a rough estimate and Im sure there are things legally that would need to be sorted out in order to initiate a new auction place...even so, as I recall, I believe eBay has a TM on their auction design; although at one pointe I heard they were sued by a group who claimed eBay ripped off their idea and layout....
