Yes Dustin...I can always run some Av gas in it. There's a small regional airport nearby where a friend stores a couple of his small planes. Haven't checked the cost of aviation fuel out in many years but they have 100 octane available as an option. As you said...it'll hardly be driven enough to think twice about that...and I've never been known to complain about fuel costs either.
Lee, I bought the engine from a friend who owns a local machine shop. He got it from his buddies estate sale when his friend passed a while back and was planning to keep it for himself. He took the engine to his shop and had his boys take it down, go through the entire engine, clearance the assembly and once he was good with everything, it was reassembled and stored as seen above. He might have zero decked the block but I failed to ask him about that as we were doing a couple deals and it was getting late the other evening.
I'm heading over to his shop to look at some other parts that I bought and will have a look at the heads when I'm there. He also picked up a #260 @ .050 solid roller camshaft he was going to run in this motor and that comes with it. His engine builder will be assembling the heads in his shop and it will all be buttoned up in time for me to pick it up in a couple weeks from now.
When spring time rolls around, I'll get it loaded onto the run stand and fire it up for a few run sessions and check it for leaks. Maybe by that time...I'll decide what I am going to load it into. I have a couple options for this one. I'll add some more pics later in the week.
