We owe that generation SO MUCH!!!! But for them, we could be speaking German or Japanese. And, although it is almost politically incorrect to say this; thank God Truman had the stones to drop the A bombs. Despite the horror of the first nukes, it saved an estimated half a million U.S. lives that would have been lost in a ground invasion of Japan. I see no reason to apologize for that retaliation given that we were attacked without provocation!!!!!
I was never in the military. I sometimes feel guilty because of the sacrifices my Dad made AND the incredible sacrifices my son Rock (whom some of you met at MCACN) made. Rocky retired from the military in 2021, after twenty years. He was in the First Armored Division. When they first went to Bagdad in April 2003, they left all the tanks in Kuwait. I called them the First UNArmored Division. That means he was a foot soldier in Bagdad for 12 months until April of 2004, when they FINALLY got the tanks and started kicking some ass. He spent a full 15 months in Bagdad. I was so relieved when he made it back to Germany in July, then back to the States in Sept. Rocky is the first phone call I make every Veteran's Day.
