Agree 100%. I have so many friends on both sides of the spectrum; folks I have GREAT respect for.
Both sides tend to over react. Human nature. There is a lot to NOT like about some folks on BOTH sides of the aisle.
In my community (small town of about 10k) I stay as apolitical as I possibly can. Given my position as CEO of a non-profit trying to restore the second most historically significant building in Oklahoma, I have stay neutral. On this past 89er day (last April) I had four ex governors in the building on the same day shooting promotional video for our project; 3 democrats and 1 republican. They get along wonderfully. And, they all have a sense of humor and all long for the days when we can disagree without being total asses about it. They all four accomplished a LOT during their years of pubic service, and all four were able to reach across the aisle and work together. One of those democrats who was governor is now BEST FRIENDS with the fellow who was the republican President Pro Tempore of the Oklahoma Senate at the same time (a young man who was in my youth group back in the seventies when I was a youth minister... and the one who helped me get the trim tag law passed). They speak daily. Maybe some day we can get back there. My fear is that the "pundits" on TV, both far right and far left, have made that virtually impossible.

Appreciate the input.
