The car was ordered as an L78 so it would have come with 396 fender emblems. Joel must have wanted them deleted after the 427 swap and since the holes would have to be filled, the stripes were repainted. Martyn Schorr said the car was always hugger orange. Who would know better than someone who was there during the build. You're implying that since the stripes are different than what the factory applied, the whole car must have been repainted… and from glacier blue to hugger orange. It doesn’t make any sense for a savvy businessman like Joel to order a car from a NJ dealership and then do a full color change, interior swap from standard to deluxe, and a transmission swap from manual to auto. Also, the car eventually got a stinger hood for the auto show but came with a factory ZL2. From what I’ve read and heard about this car, it was loaded with options, most likely ordered that way knowing it will be a shop demo and eventual auto show display car.
