The bullet ant may be small but has a powerful sting that earns it its name. Its sting has been described as feeling like a gunshot wound, causing severe pain, swelling, and muscle paralysis that can last for days. The bullet ant has a venom that contains a toxin called poneratoxin, which can cause the victim to experience shaking and uncontrollable shivering.

Despite its small size, the bullet ant is considered one of the strongest creatures on earth, able to carry objects more than 100 times its weight.
