As I was walking up to my assigned aircraft when I was overseas there just happen to be one of these sitting, just idling, on the runway very early in the morning. I just stood there in amazement since most don't get close to this aircraft, and I was maybe 50 yards away. The after burners lit, and the blue cones and rings just lit the area right up, and shook the holy 'F' out of my guts. 15 to 20 seconds later it was rolling, went straight up, and completely disappeared. There was a TR-1 there too I saw on another occasion, but not as spectacular as the SR taking off. Awesome.
