George Washington Wasn’t the First President to Live In the White House. Nope, it wasn’t the first president of the United States who lived in the White House, but John Adams and his wife Abigail. While Washington did oversee the construction of the house, he never lived in it. It began being built in 1792 and wasn’t inhabited until 1800.
