Insurance Tip:

I had a piece of aluminum, conduit or flashing hit my car two years ago. When I went to my body guy for an appt he asked if the piece was moving or did I run over it? I asked what the difference was and he said a moving piece is covered under comprehensive whereas a stationary piece is considered collision, and the driver fails to avoid.
The piece in question had been in the adjacent lane and was touched by the tire of a van and sent airborne, hit my grill and went under the car exiting the tight side damaging the rocker panel. So being hit by a flying object as opposed to hitting an object that was in the way is worth knowing for insurance purposes. Repair bill was $1500 with a $300 deductible, or $1000 deductible if it was deemed collision.
