Here's an old pic (negative) I found going through the last of my Dads stuff (R.I.P.)
It is my Grandpas truck in Cicero/Berwyn in 1943. Either my Dad or his Brother working while Grandpa supervises.
The envelope was titled "1943 - 30 day furlough" He seemed to get 30 days once a year? He was in WW2 for almost the entire war. (4 years?)
Grandpa Jesse was in WW1 and died in 1957, before I was born, so never got to meet him.
