...and, Canadian Acadians/Beamonts etc are not Pontiacs, at least these years weren't and only the later Chevette based Acadians were actually Pontiacs.

I asked GM Canada many years ago about 1967 L79 Acadians. They have no record of any being built. There were 63 L79 Acadians built in 1966. There's also no record of any 1968-1970 big block Acadians being imported for sale in Canada. And you're right, 1962-1971 Acadians are not Pontiacs, even though GM Canada documents them as such. When the Acadian came out in 1962, all the Pontiac-Buick dealers in Canada got new signs saying Pontiac-Buick-Acadian. The Acadian was a stand alone model.
