To me, if that engine can be verified as the one that #66 was born with (as in air-tight, bullet-proof, whatever you want to call it), then it would be a shame for it NOT to be between the fenders OF car #66. This car sure has had quite a life and like the Energizer Bunny, just keeps on going!
This whole story reminds me of a '34 Ford street rod that had (and I think still does have) a numbered L88 engine as a means of power. The VIN (which I do NOT have recorded) was out there for everyone to see and try to "marry" back to the 'Vette it left the factory in. Now, the current owner of the '34 will NOT sell the car, and from what I'm told, won't even entertain the idea of re-powering the car and selling the L88 mill. I think it is kind of a shame, that if that certain special Corvette does still exist (remember, I don't have the VIN) that the engine and car can not somehow be reunited.
