I always remove the positive cable by hand when the car is going to sit awhile. I just put it back on by hand, give it a slight twist to make sure of good contact. I don't use pliers for the crimp type cables or wrench for ones that have the adjustable nut/bolt. I have never had a problem. I do use a trickle charger when the car is sitting more than a day or two. The gel no maintenance original looking battery I have is 4+ yrs old and going strong. The other batteries I use are delco remy with a battery topper. Looks close to correct and less expensive over the long run. I hate side post batteries, can't believe GM is still using them. Had a lot of problems with side post batteries in 70 Chevelles, and chevy and gm trucks. Anyone have any useful tips for side post batteries?
