Re: May 8'th is VE Day
With three of our extended family in the armed forces, we are more aware than most as to what soldiers go through. We have a monument at the local Legion to honour and remember two local lads who were killed in Afghanistan, both in their 20s. Our son and son-in-law have been in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kabul and Kandahar. Dave received the Medal of Military Valour for actions in Kandahar that saved quite a few lives. They are still suffering the effects of what they went through. It gives us a better understanding of what soldiers went through in the two great wars and Korea. They never get over it mentally. More should be done to highlight these dates.
