Well, a few things about the motor that i do know. First, I did infact pull the oil pan at one point and took some pics. I had a brainfreeze I guess earlier. Now that I looked at the old pics I took, I have a better memory. haha

I am no mechanic, but I believe that most of the parts of the motor are new NOS, but some are obviously not original. For example it has a 69 intake and distributor on the motor...but the block, heads, carb, exhaust, etc. are all numbered and dated correctly.. It has 1965 dated NOS plug wires..?? There definitely are some mismatched bolts, etc. used. I suspect Smokey added the parts he was missing to mostly complete NOS motor. The inside still has all the paint dabs on the crank and oil pump pickup, etc. The heads look absolutely virgin. It even has yellow '302' painted on the side of the block under the orange paint when I cleaned the block with a rag and thinner before I repainted it. I have not touched or adjusted the crank bolts, rod bolts, head bolts, valves, rockers, etc. I just took a look and took a bunch of pics.

I do not know the full story behind exactly what Smokey did with the motors that were sold at his auction. Unfortunately he died before he actually had the auction. I heard that he rebuilt all his motors before tha auction..whether New or used. I do have all the smokey docs. and spec sheet that came with the motor. The letter of authenticity in my name is actually from his wife if I recall. they actually held the auction without him there. I also took a 'bunch' of pics of details of the inside and outside of the motor before I detailed it if anyone is interested, but I dont want to bore anyone. haha
