Re: Vintage Pic

love this thread, such a cool car. Looks like a M20 was slipped in vs a an M21, and they slipped in the endura bumper (very cool) but did not do the spoiler package (according to the check off list). I have the same gloss on my tail panel (different black than the body though).

Yes, there were a couple things not correct with the car, but since his parents picked it up a couple months before he got back, there wasn't really anything he could do. My dad was stationed in Thailand when he ordered the car, so he had to go through the military ordering processes, which he said was pretty rinky-dink. He did order the Endura bumper, but the tranny and spoiler options weren't right. Funny thing is, of all the stuff that wasn't right, he was most upset about the dealer sticker they put on the trunk. He talked to the dealer and explicitly told them no dealer stickers anywhere or he would refuse the car.
It did have trim rings on it. Not sure why he ordered those, as he had a set of Cragar SS's for the car shipped home before he got back to the US.
One of the guys he was stationed with had a brother back home that ordered a copo, which is what my dad originally wanted. The salesman told my dad it was impossible and the guy was just blowing smoke. Since he was told he couldn't order the L72 from Chevy directly, he tried to order a Nickey, but was told they wouldn't hold it that long and he would have to find someone to pick it up in Chicago when it came in - which proved too difficult, so he went with the L78. Since it was the first new car he ever ordered, he really wanted to pick it up himself.
