I know this is about gas prices, but I was wondering if I could ask more about the Max Lead 2000.
In my COPO 427 engine, what octane should I shoot for? Because 12oz of ML2000 will put me at somewhere around 100 octane. If you add 48oz per tank (to get just over 103 octane), if you're averaging out the cost of a gallon, it's obviously going to be much more than what's been stated.
Just wondering "what's enough"?

Any idea of exactly what the specs are in your engine? Reason I ask is, "advertised" specs are generally *way* different than "actual" specs once you get out the cc kit...and compression on a typical L72 can be anywhere from high 9:1 to over 12:1 using the exact same part #s, depending on whether the block/heads have been cut, correct piston dome, head gasket height, etc, etc...we rebuilt an L72 one time, used all factory parts, left block alone but just cleaned up the head surface and stuck in the correct TRWs with the .038" FelPro, and it came in at a *whopping* 10.2:1...we ran that thing on straight premium fuel except for the hottest of hot days when we'd add a splash of 110. Our current L72, however, has a little more *pop* to it and requires the good stuff...
