a little birdie told me over 3 decades ago that all the fast cars back then had the engines moved back "slightly" and the front sub frames, suspension, etc parts "dipped" and the resulting weight loss was "put back" as lead shot in the rear of the lower rockers just in front of the rear wheels ... now WHY the tech inspectors never bothered to weigh anything but the WHOLE car is beyond my simple mind ...

yes, a very high profile Camaro drag racer from the East/North Detroit suburb area (at least in the early 70's) ... no names as he is still involved in the "sport"
