Found an article in a Motion Speed magazine from 1968-69 era. It had these bars shown. The end U brackets you show, are to be welded on the rear housing, have the same look as the ones in the pics....

I looked on the pad, and by the oil filter boss , running vertical, and nothing. Not even the faintest attempt at a stamp. It's un-touched. The code also valid for a Nova in ' 70. The other blocks...

Those #'s are DNP sequence codes, and are a one of a kind code for each car for the assembly line workers. They match the code in Box # 24 on the build sheet. Each plant had their own set of codes...
