29 miles from new!

I always find this kind of stuff interesting - why couldn't he have done this 20 years earlier with a GM product?? This is going up for auction on Saturday @ 506 Wilson Drive, Hockessin, De

There is a guy in *I believe* NC (could be Virginia or a neighboring state https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif ) who did exactly that with a 59 Impala 2 dr hardtop. 348, can't recall for sure if it's a 3x2 or single 4bbl, manual trans, white w/ red interior. Brought it home from the dealer and put it up on blocks. Sometime in the 70's he bought a new home and drove the 59 to his new home. That's all it's ever been driven. When I saw the article in a car magazine many years ago, it had about 35 miles on it.

I remember that story also - I think it was a tri-power car he had bought to race but liked it so much he never did. It was up on cinder blocks against a basement wall.

I recall the W powered '59 Chevy too and any low miler is cool although the Diplomat far from an exciting one..

Anyone remember the story of the 53-55 'Vette driven home from the dealer and the owner built a wall around it in the corner of his garage?.
Real story and car, I remember an article on it in Cars & Parts about '79 also seem to recall reading it was 'sprung' in recent years although the condition was far from mint..

-----In 1980 I unearthed a 67 435 horse red Corvette coupe in Wintergarden Fla. with 6000 and a few original miles. It also had a floor to ceiling wall built around it in the owners garage to keep his kids away from it. Much to my dismay I couldnt pry it out of the owners grasp. He later moved due to a nasty divorce and I lost track of him. Wonder what he thinks of the current values???........Bill S

My cousin has a 77 Grand Prix with 900 miles. He bought it new and it sits on stands in the garage.

Too bad he didn't buy a Special Edition Black and Gold T/A instead, would be worth way more.

Those Diplomats bite, lol, I had one in college 'til it spit out the tranny on the street in front of my house.

However, they must be fun to sit in and make motor noises, isn't the rug rather dirty by the go pedal for 20 miles?

The way I remember it was a white Vette that was used for a couple of years before it was walled in, in a commercial building in Brooklyn. The building was sold when the owner died and the car was removed. When it was pulled out the daughter found a toy on the passenger floor she remember from her childhood. She brought the car home and had it in her living room for a few years, then pulled it out and sold it. I have a copy of an article that was in Newsday, with a picture of the car being taken from the back of her house.................somewhere.
