question: non-chevy 12 bolt

Hey guys,

Looking for some insight on a non-Chevy 12 bolt rear. Was told its from a Pontiac, have a good friend who tells me its from an Olds. Is there a physical difference in size that permits this rear from working on Chevy?

I think its from a GTO/442.

What is the value of the unit? Needs media blast, paint, no backing plates, axels, pumpkin, just a housing with a cover.

Thanks... photos to come soon.

Re: question: non-chevy 12 bolt

The Olds rear is 12 bolts on a round cover with a 10 bolt ring gear. I have friend in Erie, PA that knows all about these rears. Richmond Gear has replacement gears and the Lock rite locker from the 8.5" can fit in there with no issue. As far as price tag, I would say between 2-300 dollars for the unit if it has the axles. PM me if you have more questions.
