1969 Camaro Factory Undercoating - Norwood Car
Gentlemen, I am trying to decide whether or not to apply the "factory" undercoating up in the rear wheelwells of my Norwood built 1969 Camaro. The car has gone through a complete rotisserie restoration and should/hopefully hold it's own when being judged. Here's the question, do I apply it or not? How critical is it when being judged? What product is correct?
Can someone pls forward me a bunch of detailed pictures of where and how extensive the undercoating should be. Is it true that the trunk drop off's were partially sprayed as well and if so, are there some pictures out there? It would be great to also get some pictures of a undisturbed/original factory wheelwell as an example as well. Thanking you all in advance. |

------I would really like to see some pics of original cars that are light colored as well so as to see the pattern. I believe that there is actually a page in the assembly manual that refers to this.........Bill S

I don't recall where I got this (restoration) photo, but it shows a fairly production-typical rear wheel well undercoat/sound-deadener application. The Assembly Manual only shows the front wheel well application - the rear was done by Fisher Body.

Here is a link to the resto on my Z and what I think to be correct for the wheel wells. I have also found a heavy spray of undercoating at the tow boards and the firewall connection. My 69 Z resto

The Supercar Workshop gang has this process down to an absolute science. Not sure if the "secret formula" is gonna leave the vault in Latrobe though.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif
