QUESTION ABOUT RADIO GROUND STRAPS ON THE NOVA

On the 70 Nova BB cars with am/fm radio how many ground straps total are in the engine compartment??? Where do they go, fasten to??

I can't really get a straight answer from the assembly manual.. From what I can gather is that there are two, a small one down on the subframe underneath the heater box and one on the passenger side fastened by a hole in the firewall to the valve cover. I am uncertain about the drivers side. Could not locate any hole on the drivers side firewall area for the bolt to go through for the strap. I know on camaros there are two straps one on each side of the firewall connecting to the motor.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Thanks Guys.... Rich

I have a 70 BB.It only has the 3.Drivers side to valve cover not there.I'm not sure if this is correct because my car was purchased w/o engine.I also could not find a hole for the ground on the D/Hopefully someone with a BB Nova collection will chime in.Steve.

Thanks Steve.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

My car is the same as yours.. I could not find a location on the drivers side firewall where the little bolt would go into. I sure as hell won't drill into it either to put one there!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

But I have been looking at pictures of restored cars that show a strap on the drivers side going from the rear, bottom valve cover bolt to the lower area of the firewall adjacent to where the steering assembly exits... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif But like I said I am not putting a hole there if there wasn't one there to begin with..

Re: QUESTION ABOUT RADIO GROUND STRAPS ON THE NOVA

I'm sure the strap on the valve cover was taken off the car a long time ago probably due to removing the valve covers frequently to adjust the rockers/solid lifters.. The strap was probably a pain and in the way.. I know they are sharp little boogers, I got a paper cut on my index finger from the one.

I recently decided to put these back on to add that extra little detail under the hood & to be correct... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

No hole on the drivers side for a ground strap on the parts car.The firewall is unmolested except for a HEI dent.

I can't tell you with absolute certainty about BB novas, but I've had three original deuces through here, and none had ground straps, including mine.
