CE blocks
I looked at a 68 z this morning with a CE block cast Sept 67. Is this way to early for a 02E car built in 68? I am not sure if CE blocks were cast and then shelved until used by GM.

Re: CE blocks
CE blocks were not always used for warranty purposes. That block could have been put in the car years after both were manufactured.

Re: CE blocks
Yes I understand anyone could buy a CE block. He says it was a warranty block so I am wondering if the date could be so much earlier than the cars build date.

Re: CE blocks
Yes.
Your's is a possible situation that could have been repeated multiple times with other vehicles as well. Are there any digits stamped after CE? |
Re: CE blocks
I will call the guy back up and have anothe look at the pad

Re: CE blocks
Paul, does the seller have any documentation to show that the car had a warranty replacement motor? Tell us more about the Z/28?

Re: CE blocks
No paperwork as far as I know. The car is a Lemans blue ,blue standard interior,no console original muncie shifter is intact,BU rear end. Car needs a lot of front end metal as per accident in 1976. He does have paperwork from police incident # from 76. Car is filthy from sitting for years. I am going to run the serial # through GM next week.

Re: CE blocks
Paul, keep us posted. I have seen your paint and body work and if you can get it documented. It could be a very sweet car.

Re: CE blocks
I will keep you posted. The only thing I remember is the last 2 numbers on the pad were larger digits and not inline with the others
