66 Impala 396 intake and carb?

66 Impala Vert. 396 SS? My Uncle has owned the car about 15 years. Been driven a few times a summer through the years. Currently has a Holley Carb and intake. What are the correct part #'s for the OEM parts that I need. Also any good Impala reference guides? Any way to decode the trim tag?

Thanks in advance. Tommy

The Intake that's on the car could be correct as the 325 and 360 h.p. Engines were available with both Quadrajets and Holleys.......Check to see if there is a three letter prefix with a "H" as the last digit.....If so...then it came from the factory with the Holley set-up....But....the carb was "Not" a double Pumper......If you need the correct carb......Contact Eric @ Vintage Muscle Cars.....one of our Sponsors at the top of the page https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Tom,

You will need to follow up on this and confirm but...

Your intake casting # should be 3866948 if it came with a holley and the engine sufix should be IVH if it came with the turbo 400.

The tag stuff should be

12B Dec 2nd week build
844 - Blue int
F 1 marina blue with white top

W2ZS 5Y

W Tinted windshield
2 - Group 2 options Z should be Turbo 400
S rear antenna
5 - Group 5 options y deluxe seat belt

the option codes are not an exact science so you need to do more research

Sounds like a nice color combo car

Here is another of the intake:

I do not see any GM #'s. Could this be a factory manifold.
The car is still in storage. I will get more photos later.

There's your answer about the manifold....the word Holley is in plain sight...early BB intake for std Holley. What's that hunk of wire doing....??? holding the choke open..?? by the looks of all that black stuff on the choke tower this carb needs to go to the doctor asap https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif you will have to send it though...Eric doesn't make house calls https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

So this is a factory manifold? Yes the carb is a joke. Want to get the right parts and correct the problems.

Re: 66 Impala 396 intake and carb?

This is an 67 L35 manifold for a quad jet, you can see the word jet where your says holley. the casting # is under the rear bowl of the carb. you can see the casting number just behind the big GM letters. The smaller numbers closer to the dist hole will be the casting date.
