headers questions
Shopping for headers for my Malibu project. ANyone have any experience with these Hooker numbers??..recomendations??
2217 Super Comp and 2455 Comp..both are 2 in wiht 3.5 collectors..any advantages with the "tuned" headers over the non tuned headers??..other than the price https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif. Motor is a 11:00.1 open chamber ZL-1 with a mild solid roller. Thanks ALbert |
Re: headers questions
Don't tuned headers have equal length tubes...making for more consistent power? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Re: headers questions
Super Comps are good headers. I like the 3" collectors. Gives a little more room to work. Try to get as tuned as you can. Does not mean as much in power terms with the full exhaust on and all corked up, but you are only going to buy these tubes once so go ahead with the better headers. I have Supercomps on my Z/28 and they never leak or show any signs of cracking/warping problems. JMO Sam https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: headers questions
al, here are a couple pictures of my 2 1/4 in super comps. these are very close to equal length but one tube goes outside the frame rail on both sides.

Re: headers questions
I have 2217s and they hang somewhat low to the ground. I smashed in 1 lower tube before it goes to the collector extension by hitting a speed bump at 110mph....damn city put a speedbump on "aviation rd" where we used to do a little street racing without sending out a memo!
you can sorta see in the pic below, where the rocker ends the shadow is the exhaust coming off the collector. As for power, the car below, through the full exhaust, runs 121mph in the quarter and has a best et of 11.30. This is with oval ports and 10.5 comp. what are you going to primarily use the ZL1 malibu for...as if I need to ask! http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...S/DSC_0066.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...S/DSC_0059.jpg |

I have had too many trailer queens..time to beat the Cr@p of one for a change!!. Thanks ALbert |
Re: headers questions
The only fitment problem I had was on the PASS side. Had to tim a bolt on the table (the one that attaches the shims). Other than that, no "hammer time!"
