Anyone have a "hook-up" at Holley/Hooker
Does anyone here have an inside hook up to Holley/Hooker? I'm looking to buy a set of that Hooker side exhaust system for my '69 Camaro but they only sell them chromed and I would like a black set. If I would be able to buy a raw set from the factory that would sure beat spending about $1500 on the chromies just to take the chrome off and then paint black. They offer black sets for Corvettes but not Camaros...I find it odd.

Did you get ahold of Hooker direct? The ceramic coating might come off easier then chrome? JMO Sometimes companies don't have all of their products listed and someone on the other end of the line needs to know what to look for. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Anyone have a "hook-up" at Holley/Hooker
Hooker used to produce the black side pipes - I had a set back in the early eighties -
As I remember they were pretty expensive at the time - about $500 for pipes and mufflers - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...photos/C23.jpg - |

As far as I can see Hooker only makes them for small blocks for 1st and 2nd generation camaros...I would kill for a set for my BB Camaro. Summit has a part number.

Re: Anyone have a "hook-up" at Holley/Hooker
I contacted Hooker directly and the guy I talked to said that I could only get small block chromies for my Camaro (it's a small block so I'm half-way there)...I tried talking the guy into pulling a raw set aside, but you really can't get anywhere with a customer service guy...I've worked in manufacturing and I'd be willing to bet they've got sets laying around that haven't been chromed yet...that's why I need to find someone with some pull!...

Re: Anyone have a "hook-up" at Holley/Hooker
I had that same problem with a repro company on a fiberglass crossram hood. I wanted to get the bottom half of the hood and he wouldn't tell me the name of the company that made them. I didn't want to cut up a (then) $500 hood just for the bottom half. But, I guess that is the price you pay for custom stuff.
I know a couple of years ago they had advertised the painted and the ceramic coated and the crome for the Nova's and Camaro's. What's the deal with that? |

I don't know if having the old part number might help -
This is from an eighties catalog - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...hotos/a054.jpg - |
Re: Anyone have a "hook-up" at Holley/Hooker
I had a black set (Hookers) on my '68 427 Corvette back in the late 70s. As I recall I paid a little over $200 for them. They're still tucked away in the attic of my garage but the collectors are rusted beyond repair. They lasted exactly 13 months! (But in their defense, I drove it in all kinds of weather; even snow.) Slide in mufflers are long gone too. I bought new collectors and thought about repairing them but never did get around to it.
Sure sounded sweet cruising about 60 MPH with a 3.70 gear. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif The guy who lived behind me had a chrome set on his '75 Corvette but I'm certain they were NOT Hookers. Custom maybe? Who else made them at that time? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
