1969 Yenko Camaro

Hi Guys,

I'm not a Chevy Guy per say but I was wondering how to authenticate a Yenko Camaro? Don't hold it against me but I know Mopars best.

Thanks for the help! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

I looked at that vin list. Here's the deal. I'm never afraid to admit what I don't know which is why I found this board. Ask me where you might find a buildsheet on an A12 or whether the fender tag is a repop and I could tell you.

I don't know squat about authenticating Chevies let alone a high buck item like a Yenko. So if you have the time and patience tell me the location of the "identifiers" I should look for that aren't available for any Tom, Richard, or Harry building a clone.

Thanks in advance.

Not my registry but yes they are the "registered" cars that have chosen to be registered. There are others in existence. Some owners do not want their information "shared". Car #107 is mine.

Hey Alaska A12 I know you from Moparts. My handle there is BS27R1B.
I am new to this world as well.
It would be helpfull to learn how the cars make it to the Yenko Registry of VINs. Unlike the A12 440-6 cars of the Mopar world the Camaros do not have a detailed option tag similar to the Mopar Fender tag.
We are used to having a tag that lists body style, engine, transmission, optional gear, color, interior, scheduled production date, and major options. More importantly the Mopar fender tag contains the vehicles full VIN for vehicles produced for the 1969 model year and newer.

How about board members how does a VIN make it onto the Yenko registry?

Was there a list of cars produced by Yenko?
I notice the list has tremendous detail for some cars but little to none for others. To me this would indicate a lack of a central source for the information on individual cars.

Rick,

Where the heck is "North of the 49th"?

If you are North of me you are driving dogs not cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

I am in Cobourg, Ontario. It is about an hour east of Toronto.

So guys, where did the Yenko list come from?
Sales data from the dealership?
Former employees?
Expert inspection?
Chevrolet sales records?

????

We have it too easy in the Mopar world. VIN indicates model and engine of a car. The fender tag has the VIN(69 and newer) and major options such as engine, (have to be carefull on the 69.5 cars as the fender tag engine code indicates a 383) transmission, optional rear ends, color, interior color and style. These 'identifiers' make it fairly easy to compile a list of limited production cars like the 69.5 440-6 Runners and Super Bees.

Similar to Chev however, you need paperwork to confirm a high performance dealer modified or sold your Mopar new.

So please enlighten as to the documentation of the Yenko Camaros.

Does that mean that every Yenko Camaro VIN is accounted for as far as production info? If I look at a Camaro that's supposed to be a Yenko and the vin is on the list then (assuming it's not a restamp in some way) it would be authentic?
