sYc w/Dual Gate B/U lamps ???

Just finishing up my '69 sYc Chevelle with Hurst Dual Gate. What did Yenko do to activate Back Up Lamps after column shifter was inoperable after Hurst installation. I can't see anything on this car that makes me think they ever were working since the car left Canonsburg. Am I missing something or what ? Thank You

Rumour has it that the a/t deuces didn't always have operable back up lights https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I will look up what info I can find later, but as I understood it, the Yenko set up used the same parts as the 68-69 Hurst Olds. My 68 H/O had working back-up lights.

Believe the switch was incorporated into the ultra rare neutral safety switch that was only used on that dual gate set up.

What's really confusing is my unrestored, unmodified car still has all the underdash B/U light and Neutral Safety stuff hooked up like it was from Baltimore Assy Plant. There seems to be no evidence of them ever tapping in to circumvent the GM stuff and hook up the Hurst combination switch on the Dual-Gate. Maybe my car got short changed, no B/U lamps and start in any gear ????? The Dual-Gate sYc Camaro original owner here in Erie does have the Hurst switch all wired in to work properly.

Wasn't the Camaro featured in Car Craft from the day showing people how the Dual/Gate worked? I'll bet it got all the bells and whistles, but the Yenko installed parts may have been "overlooked"..BKH

yes Brian, that's what I think. My archeological research on this fairly undisturbed car shows nothing to make me think that wiring was ever tapped into and further, hard to believe it would have been put back to original build configuration at a later date only to not function anyway.

Didn't the neutral safety switch and back-up lights (with automatics) always work off of the switch on the bottom of the column? If the back drive was hooked up correctly everything should still work huh?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

If Hurst supplied the arm for the side of the trans, that may be true. If a GM shifter arm is used, the back drive will be operational. The shift cable hooks to a pin that bolts into the rectangular hole in the GM shift arm, part #3950176. Check the picture.
