B - Body Cars & Radiators

Hello,
I am not sure if anybody can answer my question, but I am wondering what criteria was used to determine what type of radiator was installed in the 427 Impala/Belair/Biscayne cars. I have seen SS427 Impalas with just 3-core radiators and other 427 cars with 4-core. I know air conditioning played a role and I am assuming auto tranny did too. I am trying to figure out what is right for my car.

Thanks for any imput.

Re: B - Body Cars & Radiators

Hi Rob:
Since the customer had the option of ordering a HD rad under rpo code V01 it is not cut and dry with respect to what came is these cars.I don't ever recall seeing a air car with a 3 core, but have seen automatics with both but mostly 4 core while the stick cars seem to have more 3 cores than 4.
Our original 4spd car has a three but it could have just as well had a 4 if they selected the optional rad.I would say both are correct for your car.
tks joe

Not everything is applicable to a B-body, but still a lot of good info.

In Camaro, HD rad was not an option on a BB. Not sure about other models.
