camaro sub frame
are 67-69 camaro sub frames the same as 68-72 nova
|
Re: camaro sub frame
I don't know if they are identical, but I do know that the
67-69 Camaro sub-frame fits in a 1970 Nova. Does that sort of answer your question? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Steve |
Re: camaro sub frame
Actually, 67 68 and 69 Camaro are all different. Kurt S or Mark C (can't remember which one) has some good detail pics outlining the differences.
I believe that 69 and 70 Nova subframes are identical to the 69 Camaro. I have a 69 Camaro and an early 70 Nova subframe here at the house, and haven't been able to detect any differences. Lynn |
Re: camaro sub frame
Here is a old thread from Team Camaro that will answere some of your ?'s.

Re: camaro sub frame
-------My only input would be that no 67 or 68 Camaro subframe would be the same as any 69 up Nova. The bump-stop lumps on early sub-frames are placed differently than 69 up sub-frames. Im sure there are other differences as well. Lower A-frames are therefore different as well because of where the rubber bumper is located. Hope this helps......Bill S

Re: camaro sub frame
what i'm trying to do is replace a 69 camaro sub with a 72 nova sub.I found one that is totaly restored for $150.00 and the one in the camaro is bent a bit.

Re: camaro sub frame
Jon: Can't say for sure if a 72 is the same. I am pretty sure the 70 Nova is the same as your 69. Probably doesn't help you much. Might check some parts sources to see if the 70 and 72 used all the same suspension and steering pieces. I know at some point, the Nova was changed to place the steering linkage in front of the A-arms, whereas in 69 and 70 they were behind the A-arms like a 69 Camaro. Just don't know what year that started.
Any Nova gurus out there? Lynn |
Re: camaro sub frame
Short answer, yes the 72 nova will fit fine. And yes there are some differences especially in the 67 68 camaros, although IF, it's not a gnats a$$ restoration, they will all fit. The 72, to 69 should have the least issues unless I'm forgetting something. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Re: camaro sub frame
There might be some extra holes to fill from the EEC stuff on the '72 frame as compared to the '69 frame. Otherwise, there are usually some small design changes from year to year, but functionally they are the same.

Re: camaro sub frame
Just for info. There was also 2 different subframes for the 1967 alone.
