Stewart Warner tach sending unit?

Does anyone know if the pictured sending unit would be correct for an old Greenline Stewart Warner tach? Number is 429373.

Here's a pic of the tach in question.

The tach shown is a 960.....It's a solid state unit that does NOT require a sending unit.....It is a very lazy tach though....I run one in my 68 but had the internals switched to a more modern set of guts.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Are you sure about that? Most of these tachs have a small gold sending unit mounted to the back.

The 90 deg blue line uses one of those little gold senders on the back. Note the two screw holes for it to mount.

The 270deg green line has a back like this one. I don't see a way of mounting that type sender. But I do believe this tach needs a sender, either the type you posted or perhaps one like the 970 models?

The back of mine is more like the second one pictured above. Here's a couple pics of the back.

The manufacturers were pretty careful to put warnings about sending units actually on the earlier tachs--unless they started printing it right on the tach when fellas weren't reading the enclosed instructions and were frying the little buggers---You should be able to get in contact with a Stewart Warner tech rep.....
