I put a piece of Metal tube on my Siphon( to keep the tube low and in the gas). This kept it on the bottom. I used a low gas can (round type). It may work better if you jack up the back of the car. Just keep the can lower than the gas cap, so gravity can do its thing. It did take some time to get the 4 to 5 gallons out of the car.

Re: Gas siphoning

In times that I have had to empty my tank, I have been careful and taken the return line off my fuel pump and used a longer hose to place in the Jerry Can. It will take just a couple of minutes to get the gallons out that you want. Be sure to have a fire extinguisher handy anytime you mess with the gas! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif

Re: Gas siphoning

Around here we drill a hole in the bottom of the tank and then put a slightly over-sized metal screw back in the hole. You won't have to siphon ever again after this trick.

BTW - do this at your own risk. We, around here, are considered professionals!

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/ooo.gifSiphoning gas? Hey, that's right up my alley! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Being from the midwest, we're experts in this exercise!!!

I have a piece of clear 1/2" fuel line about 5 feet long that's used exclusively for 'transferring fuel'! Using the old 'tried and true method' of human vacuuming, you can watch the fuel climbing through the clear line. When it reaches a point just a few inches from the 'termination end', quickly place your finger over the end and place it in the gas can. 3 - 4 gallons should only take a couple of minutes to transfer.

I came up with the idea of using clear line after NUMEROUS incidents of coughing and gagging on Hi-Test! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

(For some reason I feel I'm gonna regret this. Howie?)
