any pics. How differnt were the 68s to the 67. I know someome that is looking for a 68 set up for his 68Z

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
Jeff, the '68 unit has an indentation to clear the smog pump, so it is different. '67 units never come up for sale, so they are higher priced. A couple of '68 units sell each year and they are in the $3k - $4K range.

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
Mark, would a '67 cowl plenum breather be correct for a '68Z if it were a built for Canada car and therefore did not come with A.I.R.? Tex T.

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
Tex, I have not had much experience with '68's, but I believe that they all came with smog systems regardless of country. Given that many of these breathers were over-the-counter items, it would not surprise me to see a '67 unit on a '68, particuarly in day two trim with headers etc.

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
Mark, I picked up on an article over on CRG a year or so ago including some GM paperwork indicating that '68 cars built for Canada did not have A.I.R. and indicating the proper pipe plugs for the exhaust manifolds. Just prior to discovering that article, I had asked Jerry McNeish about it and he said that he had heard that Canadian '68s didn't have A.I.R., but had never been able to verify it. Who knows? Anyway, my '68 has what is almost certainly a '67 cowl plenum breather and I am going to leave it that way during restoration.

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
Interesting subject on 68 Canadian A.I.R. I am currently looking at a 68 L78 Canadian Camaro and the owner told me that the Canadian cars did not have A.I.R. I am not stating this as fact, just what I was told.

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
As I said guys, I am not a '68 guy (actually, I thought they stopped making Camaros after 1967 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif), so please don't go by what I have been lead to believe. I think Keith Tedford talked about this regarding his '69 COPO at one time and I thought he said his Canadian car came with smog new???

Re: 1967 Camaro Cowl Plenum Breather
Smog was not common on 68 from what I recall. I know none of our impala's had it all BB and one was a l-72. My friend had a bunch of camaro's 67-69 one l-78 nothing on that one or his z/28's.
In fact Zedder his black 67 Z actually sold to Ontario somewhere around 87.It needed a lot of work but was an original documented car. |
