1970 Z28 Rear Leaf Spring Restoration
I am starting the restoration of my 70 Z28 by tackling the leaf springs. During disassembly, some of the straps were damaged with the tab breaking off of one piece.
Does anyone make reproduction straps and plastic pads for these multi-leaf springs? Pics below: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y86...6/DSCN5148.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y86...6/DSCN5200.jpg Thanks, Paul |

I also bought from Eaton Detroit Spring. I would suggest plating first with MANGANESE Phosphate........and then coat with BoeShield T-9, or paint with bare steel paint?????

A Carlisle LEGENDS winner (70Z-28) has shown pics of Original springs with Black Paint under the rubber mounting area. The top resto guys will never reveal there techniques, but curious as to how others try to replicate a factory look on springs with PAINT !!!!!!!!

You can see the area under the rubber pads is original, untouched finish, and appears to be a black oxide heat treat. My plan is to have a custom paint mix made to match this finish if possible.
