SYC biscayne?

i have always wondered why don yenco didn't build and promote any full size super cars? along the lines of the baldwin/motion 68 biscayne. instead of phase III, he could have had a stinger buzzcayne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif or some name less corny. i think 68 SYC econosedan with mild graphics would have be a hit with the magazines of the day. dennis

Re: SYC biscayne?

The Biscayne was available from the factory with an RPO 427, as was the Corvette, which is my reasoning as to why Yenko never offered any regular "sYc" packages for these cars. His idea was to create something "special" that the factory was not offering... or at least thats how he wanted it to appear to customers.

You'd think in '67 when the best you could get as an RPO was the L36 he'd have considered or built L72 Biscaynes? . I wonder if he knew L72's were coming back as an RPO for '68? .

Re: SYC biscayne?

Yenko wasn't even doing conversions to Chevelles or Novas in 67, and was primarily focused on modifying the newly released Camaro and of course his Stinger Corvairs. Yenko's main interest was generally in road racing, which was his true passion. To be honest I doubt he had much interest in building up Biscaynes or Impalas. Not to say he couldn't have done one for a customer who requested and paid for it, but I've never heard of such an animal.

Re: SYC biscayne?

yea, i would like to think that the dealership modified a few local cars for the older guys back then that didn't fit to well in a camaro or corvair https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif i remember when i first got my 69 Z/28 and took my dad a ride in it, he hated it. he didn't like the way you "sit on the ground". i have never seen a magazine artical or ad for a yenco transplanted (1967 L/72 or L/88) big car. so if they did do any they must not have survived. dennis
