69 Auto transmission where is Vin # located
 

I was wondering if anyone has any information on where the vin # of the vehicle might be located on a 69 turbo 400 transmission.I have found information on how to decode it but not on where to find the Vin #.I know on Muncie trans it is clearly visible stamped on the side.Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank's Irvin

Look on the Bellhousing lip first.If you don't see anything there,aim for the recessed machined pad located on the drivers side,just above where the pan meets the Trans.,behind the rubber boot covering the shift linkage.It is directly parallel to the head pipe cominig off the Ex. manifold,so you have to get pretty much underneath the car to see it if it's there.
It can get pretty caked up with gunk over the years so you might have to dig into that recessed area to reveal it.
