Holley 4053 pump shot....Not
 

I just started getting a bog in my 68 Z28. Original 4053 carb.Seems to be a problem with the pump shot. When I move the linkage slowly to wide open, I get no gas from the squirters. I do get a shot if I press down on the pump lever quickly or if I move the throttle linkage quickly. The rubber diaphram seems to be Ok (no tears). Any ideas would be appreciated . Thanks, Bob

How much does the car get driven? Do the float bowls ever go dry? If so then it could still be the diaphram in the booster or the gaskets between the metering plate could be causing a leak down. When you "floor it" the rush of fuel may make it look as though you are getting the full shot, but I'd bet that the shot is leaner than if you were to replace the gaskets and accelerator booster pump diaphram.
If you don't think that this is the probem then try changing to a more aggressive cam for the accelerator booster pump.
If you do go with the gaskets I would also check the metering plate and carb body with a straight edge to make sure that the body and/or plate are not warped.

Remove the pump cover on the front float bowl and see if the little stainless check ball in the pump cavity is stuck. Be careful with it, it's easy to knock the brass retainer plate loose trying to free it up.

If that's not it, pull the squirter and see if the check valve in the main body is sticking.
