how to ID a main shaft ???

I found a 21 tooth inpuitshaft for a fourspeed (I hope) at the fleamarket this morning. It is in great shape with no ground-on syncro miss shifts. it has two ring groves on the clutch splines. I presume it is a Muncie wide ratio input shaft?

Does this sound like I am close??? I got it for a $1, so I know it has to be a bargan if that is what it fits. I can see no part #'s on it anywhere. That was all the little ole lady had. She had no idea what it was except it was a "car part".

I just love flea markets. You just never know what somebody will show up with and for cheap too.

2 grooves, 21 teeth, sounds like a nice '66-'70 M20 wide ratio input shaft.

Thanks I kinda felt it was a wide ratio myself. One thing is for sure it was well worth it for only one dollar.
