Bellhousing casting numbers
I recently purchased an 11" bellhousing for my 67 camaro and was wondering if there were any books or websites that may have casting numbers for them. I have the book Chevrolet By the Numbers 65-69 and it does not have bellhousing casting numbers. I am familiar with the 621 bellhousing but this one does not have that as the last three numbers. I'll have to double check but I believe that 756 is the last three digits on mine.

I checked the picture I took of the casting numbers but it turned out to be too blurry. I am at school right now and cant get to it to look at the numbers. Attached is a picture of the bellhousing.

Re: Bellhousing casting numbers
Andy,
Make sure the front bearing retainer on the transmission seats securely into the large alignment hole in the bellhousing. I seem to remember the truck bellhousings have a larger hole. If it does not, the transmission will not be properly aligned with the crank centerline when installed. This will cause problems with the clutch and possibly damage the internal gears. I think the car 11" bells are #421/444/621/& 797. Check with CRASH, he should be able to help you. Hope this info helps. Eric |
Re: Bellhousing casting numbers
444, 621, and 697 will all fit 11" clutches... 421 is a 1963 only 10 1/2" with the small front bearing retainer... Hope this helps... Crash
