Oil and Filter

Out of curiosity guys, what brand of oil and oil filter do you use on your cars? I have used the same brand of oil and oil filter for years now, and I am just wondering if there is a better brand currently out there.

I use: Catrol oil (10W40) with an AC oil filter with the non drainback valve.

I use Quaker State Full Synthetic. I think the synthetic saved the engine in a 69 Camaro I had years ago after a major overheat situation.

I use the correct White AC Delco Oil Filter. They are only about $5 a pop up here. Just have to put up with a little French on them as well as the English.

Thanks Don. Where do you purchase the correct "White" AC Delco oil filters? I am currently using the "Blue" AC's, and I would like to switch back to the white.

We use Shell brand oil 20w-50 in all the cars. For no other reason than it was reccomended by our speed shop.
Same goes for the orange Fram oil filter which I have heard mixed reveiws about.

Where can I find these correct white units? Please share!

Here's what I have on the shelf at present. I have only one remaining with the old "AC" script. I think they changed to the new "ACDelco" script about two or three years ago which was unfortunate. I usually change my oil once a year and normally buy three filters every three years. The last bunch I think I got in the spring of 2004. I imagine these are the ones still being offerred today.

I get mine at the local parts store, but they can be purchased through any GM of Canada dealer.

Ya but we can't use a French Filter. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif The car won't run right! The oil flows in the opposite direction.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Does anybody use Redline synthetic? I know of a member here that uses it in all of his cars.

Re: Oil and Filter

Valvoline 30 wt Racing oil in all the old cars with AC filters. PF35 (long filter) has been superseded by 1218. Just bought some new 1218's and they're an inch shorter than the ones I bought about 6 mos. ago. My Suburban w/454 also uses this filter. Those Canadian filters are really neat with the old AC logo and white color. Every Delco filter here is blue so you have to paint them for the old cars.
