OEM vs NOS sheetmetal

If you were going to look at a set of nos quarters for 69 camaro, how would you tell these vs the OEM (goodmark type or others) assuming you did NOT have them side by side to compare....?????? Any paticular visable indicators, date stamps or ?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

I have heard the GM stickers are reproduceable??

I thought the NOS GM metal was thicker than the repop metal. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

Thats what i have also heard, but when you dont have them side by side to check, a little difficult to determine by sight or weight....

One sure way to tell is on the repo panels the stamp for the Gills in front of the rear wheel is a much shallower undefined stamp. If you compare it to an original you can spot it fairly easily. Hope this helps. Rich.

Ed- I have a repop passenger side quarter skin at home. If you want me to shoot pictures of the louvers send me a PM or Email.

Heck, I guess I could even compare that skin to the quarters on my car. Just let me know.

I also checked several of the sets of NOS 1/4's I have here for customers cars and some not all have the production date stamp in the trunk flange area, so that won't be a sure fire way of telling.

Check the thickness of an original with a micrometer. Write down the number. Take that measurement and the micrometer with you to look at the other ones.
