Date coding

Should the date code of a holley carb. be dated to the engine build date or to the car build date on the vin tag?

Re: Date coding

Engine stamped dates were when assembled.
Chevrolet would dress the engines with a Carb. later on during cars assembly,so use the Cowl tag date as the latest possible date indicator for the Carburator stamped date.

Re: Date coding

Thanks Rick, I have been trying to find that out for a long time. There is about a 1 month difference in my motors build date and the trim tag date.
